Vicki Trottier was hired by Community Literacy of Ontario (CLO) in 1999 to coordinate the development and facilitation of the organization's second online workshop, Beyond Recruitment. She is currently working part-time for CLO investigating the role of volunteers in literacy assessment. She also has a small contract with the Ontario Literacy Coalition to moderate an online discussion group on the topic of literacy assessment.
Vicki has worked in the literacy field for the past 12 years. She is the part-time coordinator of a community-based program in Northern Ontario.
She has served on the boards of a number of literacy organizations, both regionally and provincially. She has delivered a number of workshops on a variety of topics, including fundraising, how to design a fee-for-service program and literacy assessment.
In early 1999, Vicki was seconded to the position of Learning Outcomes and Assessment Resource Co-Ordinator by the Ontario Literacy Coalition. She was part of a six-member provincial team designed to assist literacy delivery agencies with the implementation of recent program reforms. The team was also responsible for developing and delivering two training days to literacy practitioners across the province of Ontario.
Vicki holds a Bachelor of Science in Language from Laurentian University. She also has successfully completed the National Certificate in Voluntary and Non-Profit Sector Management (Canadian Centre for Philanthropy) and a certificate program in Fundamentals in the Management of Volunteers (Humber College).
Vicki is married with two children. She and her husband own and operate a grocery store in Northern Ontario. She is active in her community and volunteers for her children's sporting teams. Each year, she produces a benefit concert that raises funds for local charities and community agencies. In her spare time, she likes to travel and go to the theatre. Her hobbies include reading, knitting and cooking.
