In 1983, Jane Mallory Park wrote Meaning Well Is Not Enough: Perspectives on Volunteering, a book based on 20 years of active volunteer experience with groups such as the YWCA, Junior League, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, United Way, PTA and many local church and civic groups. She participated in the gamut of volunteer responsibilities: direct service, board and committee leadership, social action/advocacy, recruitment, training and fundraising. In 1979, she was honored as a Woman of Achievement by the YWCA and Junior League of Binghamton, N.Y., in conjunction with the Broome County Status of Women Council.
