Francis Shawn Bawden, MLIS, worked for the National Park Service for nine years, which included positions at Redwood, Yellowstone, Everglades National Parks, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. He was also the Public Information Officer (PIO2) on the Gila Las Cruces Incident Management Team during the 2018 and 2019 fire seasons. Bawden served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 2004, with overseas deployments to Haiti, Kosovo, and Iraq. In 2008, he received the President's Volunteer Service Award for more than 3,600 hours of volunteer service with AmeriCorps.
